Jackie Robinson was born in Cairo, Georgia. His mom was a single parent and raised him alone with his 4 siblings.

Jackie would become the first to letter in four sports at UCLA, play pro football for a while, and eventually go into the military where he became a lieutenant and coached.
He would have to leave the Army for refusing to give up his seat to a white man on a bus.

Jackie then signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers, becoming African American baseball player since the MLB became segregated in 1887.

Jack would be the man to stand defiantly in the face of prejudice and racism.

Jackie would do exceptionally well in the MLB. He was Rookie of the Year, MVP, won the world series, and played in 6 of them.

Jackie affected people outside of baseball as well. He started the Jackie Robinson Construction Company to build people houses and the Jackie Robinson Foundation to give minorities scholarships.
Jackie died October 24th, 1972. While his life did not continue, his legacy did. His number is retired by the entire MLB, and his legacy is honored every year on April 15th. Jackie led the way for the 42.5 percent of MLB players today that are of color.
