We'll begin with the Cold War

A battle between the United States and the Soviet Union

Where nothing really happened

But everyone was scared anyways

The US tried to use CONTAINMENT to fix this

They wanted to STOP the ideas from the Soviet Union

And keep them OUT of the US

The USA was a little upset with the Soviet Union

This is because the Soviet Union created an Iron Curtain that split up Germany

That made Germany and the USA very sad

This is what WE think

The USA was scared of ideas from the Soviet Union

The Soviet Union was totalitarian

Which means everyone there had to think the same things as their leader

Truman Doctrine

We will help places that don't want to be like the Soviet Union

The USA tried to help places that didn't want to think like the Soviet Union

They used the TRUMAN DOCTRINE to help these places
