George Washington has become the first president of the United States of America. He takes his oath of office in New York City. The new president works with Congress.

1790-

Alexader Hamilton (future president of the USA) announces a plan for the economy. Hamilton is a Federalist, and is going against Jefferson's Republicans. These new political parties emerged.

1794-

Pennsylvania farmers revolt when Congress creates a tax on the whiskey that they make. Washington sends out troops to control the rebellion. The whiskey rebellion is crushed.

1795-

Senate approves Jay Treay with Britain. Britain is currently at war with our ally, France. President Washington declares that the US is not in favor of one side, to avoid conflict.
