“Stomp, Stomp, Stomp!” went the 2 pairs of feet on the wet grass of the rainforest. My brother and I are going on a trip throughout the rainforest to explore nature and the different species of living organisms. There are approximately 10 million species of animals, plants and insects in the rainforest with almost half of the world’s different species living here, although only 6% of the Earth’s surface is covered by rainforests!

We start walking a little slowly and standing for a long time observing everything we saw in our pathway until .. “The balls of my feet hurt, so can we take a break already? I am a sweaty gorilla” my brother yells. “Alright, but not for too long otherwise we could get off track.” I said thinking if it was the right decision. “Also, try to control yourself (self-control).” It made sense for my brother to be sweating in the rainforest because the temperature in the rainforest ranges from 70° to 85°, but at least the tall trees give shade to the living organisms who live under the emergent layer.

Now we sit down on the forest floor and drink some water. Suddenly we notice a man with a big, bold, balmy beard, who has an axe in their hand, chopping down the terrific tall trees of the rainforest. “Hey STOP, what do you think you are doing?” howls my brother, making his voice echo through the rainforest, waking up some nocturnal animals. The man turns around, while my brother walks up to him and says in a sad tone “Why are you doing this to nature, what has it ever done to you?” “Listen kid this is my job and I get money for doing this, so there’s your answer.” says the man chillin’. “Well sir, you may not notice it, but these trees are as unique and special as a million dollars,”I say standing up for my brother who did the right thing about walking up

to the man and telling him those things. “For a fact, over 8,000,000 trees are cut down everyday in the rainforest. Not only that, if trees suffer, humans suffer because without trees you could not live (because trees release oxygen) and also, since there would be no biodiversity, animals would die out/go extinct! This environment would be destroyed if these trees were cut down and cause climate change too.”

“You have a point there, but would my dad be convinced because, even though I get money, part of the reason I am doing this job is cause I am forced to? So there is nothing you could do about it.” says the man giving a big sigh. “Have you tried convincing him?” asks my brother. “Well, no.” says the stressed out man. We look at each other and say “If your dad isn’t convinced, say this, without trees, there is no life.” “Looks like my work is done for today and I hope forever.” the man said while giving a thumbs up sign. “That’s the spirit!” I say happy that he learned his lesson to not cut down trees. 70% of the plants in the rainforest are trees. Who would want to destroy that?
