Computer Network- A group of computers that are connected and communicate with each other.

Packet- The part of a message that is transmitted over a network.

Local Area Network- A network that connects devices that are relatively close to each other, usually in the same building

Wide Area Network- A network that connects over a large area

Node- A device that is connected to a network

Media Access Control- It controls the packet transmission between Network Interface Cards

- Ip Address- a unique string of numbers separated by periods that identifies each computer using the Internet Protocol to communicate over a network.

Bus Topology- A network topology where each node is daisy-chained along the same backbone

Ring Topology-A network topology where each node is daisy chained together where the end of the network comes back around to the first node, forming a complete circle

Star Topology-A network topology where each node is connected to a central device or hub

Network Token- a local area network (LAN) in which all computers are connected in a ring or star topology and pass one or more logical tokens from host to host

Tree Topology - a special type of structure in which many connected elements are arranged like the branches of a tree

Protocol- An agreed-upon format for transmitting data between two devices.
