It is an English nursery rhyme about a boy on a farm.
I read that book so much I memorized it by heart.
Little Boy Blue marked the start of my long journey
of literacy.
After the first book, I still had a long way to go to be a
bonafide reader. I still did not start school yet, but I had
plenty of other resources of a variety of mediums
to help me learn to read.

during my childhood. The only channel I watched
was PBS, and all the shows on there were about
reading. The theme of reading was so
prevalent on that channel that it was scary. They
had shows that were exclusively for reading such
as reading rainbow, which was hosted by
Kunte Kinta, and Between the Lions. There were
also shows that promoted reading on the side such
as Arthur with it's Library Card song. The TV
improved my vocabulary and reading skills
significantly.
Although the TV was very informative, my parents did not
want me to watching it too much.

library as much as she could even though
she had to work. Me & my brother left the
library with a stack of books that was a
couple feet high every time.
My parents helped me strengthen my interest
in reading which improved my writing ability
also, since I was reading examples of proper
grammar and sentence structure.
However, my preference of books went in a
more informal direction as I got older.

favorite book series: Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey. When I
read a couple pages I was hooked. The humor, the interesting story,
and illustrations are what made the book so enjoyable. CU books
were a great transition for reading picture books to novels since
they were a combinations of both. The book's length
was similar to a novel's but it had plenty of
illustrations to help me picture and keep up with the
story. These were the first books that I spent three to four hours
straight to read after I obtained it.
The CU books also were one of my first inspirations
to write. The main characters in the books were kids
that made their own comic books, so I tried to be like them
and write my own comics too.
I always wrote the comics with no planning and what-not, so that
might be why I write with little planning as a college student.

much as the French do fry. They had a program called
D.E.A.R. which stood for drop everything and read.
Basically, we were forced to read for an hour near
the start of class.
6th grade was when they made us start doing serious
writing such as persuasive letters. This was one of the
first times that we had to present evidence and
elaborate on them, and that was the foundation for
all the writing that we were going to do through
college and even on our jobs.
