To Mr.Blalock's 7th grade class

The story starts with a king named Śuddhodana Gautama, whose son Siddhārtha had just been born.
Wise men saw the stars, and came to tell the king about his son's peculiar fortune. There were two possible ways his life could lead. 1, the new son would become a great king, and would expand the kingdom greatly. Or, he would give away all his possessions to become a great religious leader.
Hearing this, the king decided to shelter his son to avoid him giving away the kingdom's wealth. Siddhārtha was married at around 18 and had a child without ever seeing the outside world.
