
Granite comes from the happy family of igneous. The igneous used to live in California, a vert hot state, and now in a cooler, Wisconsin state.

Granite rock decided one day to hike up the towns volcano. He gets to close to the top and all the heat of the volcano begins to change him into a Gneiss rock.

after gneiss gets off of the volcano, he trips right into a mud pit, where the silt and clay particles turn him into a shale rock. Shale has some nicknames like "mudstone" or "laminated" due to the very thin layers its made of

after shale got out of the mud, he continues to walk the valley below the volcano. After a while, a big glob of lava rolls over him and once again, creating so much heat and pressure that he changes AGAIN into a slate rock

Once slate gets out from the lava glob, he continues his walk around the valley. Suddenly, the ground begins shaking violently. Slate was stuck in a earthquake. In a couple seconds, Slate fell apart and re-constructed as a phyllite rock.
