Creating The Shape
STEP 1: On the top right there are a row of 11 buttons side by side. Start from the left and click on the fifth button. Then there will be four different choices under the button. Click on the one that says Regular Polygon.
Before we begin... go to the Geogebra Classic website to make your shape. And the hexatessellation I made is a dog

STEP 2: Click on two spots next to each other and a box will come up asking for the number of vertices. Enter in 6 and click OK.
STEP 3: After pressing OK, a hexagon will appear. So first I made the head of the dog. On the first button from the left choose the pen.

STEP 4: Then using the pen tool draw a half circle under and partially above the bottom right line of the hexagon and connect one point to the other.

STEP 5: Now going 9 buttons from the left, click on the one that says Rotate Around Point. Now click on the line you just made and the most bottom right point. A box will show up asking you the angle of rotation. Put in 120 degrees and click the bubble that says counterclockwise.

STEP 6: It should look like this...
Now to make the legs. Going back to the pen tool in the first button over, draw a stair step line going from the outside to inside on the next line to the left. Then curve it slightly back to the outside before touching the point

STEP 7: Repeat step 5. Now instead of rotating the drawn line over the bottom right point, rotate it over the middle left point

IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS ->
STEP 8: And finally to draw the rest of the dog. Drawing on the next line to the right with the pen tool, draw a tiny vertical line up and a hooking reverse C shape. Then hook it back to make a sort of tail shape.

STEP 9: Repeat step 7. Now instead
of rotating the drawn line over the
left most middle point, rotate it over
the upper right most point.

And There Is Your Dog!!

Making The Tessellation
Supplies
- Geogebra
- Printout of shape
- Scissors
- Paper(to do the tessellation)
- Pencil
- sharpie/black marker(optional)
- colored pencils(optional)

STEP 1: Cut out your shape along the black lines. Try to be as precise as possible.

STEP 2: trace a drawing of your dog
anywhere on your paper with a pencil.
STEP 3: Then using the same Geogebra page you made for your shape, go to the ninth button from the left and click on the Rotate Around point. Highlight the entire shape by making a box, and click on the point on top of the tail.

STEP 4: A box will show up asking the degree of rotation. Enter in 120 degrees and it's rotating clockwise. The product should look like this...
STEP 5: Now take your dog shape print out and put it in the exact same position that you see in the photo above. Then trace it. Continue to do these same steps all around the paper. If you can eye ball it and do it without Geogebra, that's fine too. Just make sure you put it in the right positions!! It's kind of like a puzzle!

It should end up looking like this...
