La Contesa del Secchio,
an old medieval game

Sant’Elpidio a Mare is also known for the “Contesa del Secchio”, a game where the players score points throwing a ball in a well.

There are four teams. Each team wears its own traditional colours and is named after its own district. Sant’elpidio a mare has got 4 districts: Santa Maria, Sant'Elpidio, San Giovanni, San Martino.
