To my brother, Raeden, for inspiring me like animals.

Thump! Joe the cheetah tackled Stewart the African leopard playfully, and then they started to roll down the African Savannah hill.

At the bottom of the hill, Joe observed the Dark Forest.

Stewart told Joe never to venture in because no one knows what’s beyond those woods.

Joe and Stewart have been best friends since they were cubs, they could trust each other.

Joe took one last longing look at the woods and trudged back to his tree fort.

The whole way back, Joe thought of the Dark Forest.

The next day Joe woke up early to run back to the Dark Forest.

He was walking around and soon thought he heard something.

Then he ran back to his tree fort, but he did not realize how long he’d been gone, and Stewart was waiting for Joe on the steps when he returned.

Stewart knew where Joe had been and was angry.

After that day, Stewart never let Joe out of his sight.

However, one day when they were playing hide and seek, instead of trying to find Stewart, Joe ran off to the Dark Forest.
