This is Mel the moose. His species typically like to eat leaves, bark, pine cones, and twigs. He likes to graze around the forest. Mel's good friend is Martha the Moose.
Hi I'm Martha.
Hi I'm Mel.

Mel and Martha were grazing the forest and saw Mel's father with his friends. His dad had so many friends from all sorts of species. Mel and Martha wondered why all of Mel's dad's friends didn’t look like him, walk like him, sound like him, or eat the same things that they ate.

That night Mel’s dad was tucking him into bed and he asked “Dad why don’t your friends look like you. Martha is a moose like me, but your friends are all so different." Mel’s father replied “Well Mel, it doesn’t matter what someone looks like on the outside. You can have many different types of friends. In fact, I learn a lot of cool new things from ALL of my friends.”

The next day, Mel was determined to make all sorts of friends. Mel walked up to Bon the bird. “Hello Bon, I am Mel. Would you like to eat lunch together?” he asked. “Hello Mel, it’s nice to meet you!” exclaimed Bon. They sat down together and Bon offered Mel a worm. Mel had never had a worm before, and he was nervous to eat one. Mel anxiously bit into the worm. Before he even finished chewing he shouted "WOW! That is delicious Bon”. Mel tried something new and loved worm.
