A Day as a Hungry Child

I wake up in the morning. My stomach growls as I crawl out of bed. All that I am thinking about is the sweet, precious food out in the world. Somewhere in this big, big world. My family is very poor and we can't afford the nutrients we need. I have been starving for days.

Just as I hear my stomach growl even louder, I slowly walk to my mother where she is mending my last and final shirt which we will be selling later.
"Mother? What are we having for breakfast today?" I questioned.
"Nothing, we don't have the money," she sighed.

I traced my footsteps to the front door. Everyone came with me, they carried trinkets and items sell-able.
I hoped that the items would give our family enough money to afford a family dinner.

When we got outside, my family and I sat on a rusty, cold bench. We laid out all of our items on the concrete.
"Hello my name is Sally, what do we have here?" a girl walked over to our bench.
"Trinkets, a wooden table and a hat," I said.
"Can I have the hat please?" Sally questioned.
"Sure, that will be 10 dollars," I exclaimed knowing a family dinner awaited.

Just to confirm, I checked the amount of money Sally gave me.
"This is enough to get a full pizza and a salad!" I shouted as my smile grew as large as the Sun. For the rest of the day, my family and I waited for more people to buy our trinkets. Sadly, by the time the Sun sank under the horizon, the only thing sold was the hat.
"Can we get something to eat? Can we get something to eat?" I begged.
"Yes." Mother smiled.

We slowly walked to the pizza place talking to each other with relish.
"What would you like?" the waiter asked while handing out menus.
"May we please have a large pizza and a small salad?" I asked.
"Of course," she took our order and walked away.

That night, once I got home, I had a full stomach for the first time in days. I was overjoyed that my family made some money today and was excited to make more tomorrow.
