It was the happiest day of Madison's life as she had just given birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl or so she thought. Madison and Chris could not wait to take home their baby girl Mel and show her off to the world. However, they received the shock of their lives when the doctor informed them that Mel was autistic. Madison and Chris were filled with so many mixed emotions as they could not believe that their only beautiful baby girl was autistic.

Chris wept openly the entire day of the news, however, Madison was not daunted by the news as she believed that this had made her miracle baby much more interesting.

It was now time for baby Mel to go home and Madison was so excited.

They finally arrived home and all their family members and friends gathered around to witness the arrival of baby Mel. Clapping, screaming and cheers could be heard as they all gathered around.

Baby Mel was about eight (8) months old when Chris and Madison started seeing signs of her unresponsiveness to her name, fixation on unusual objects such as sticks and board, lack of eye contact and smiling. Madison would sometimes play peek-a-boo, clap and sing various jingles, but baby Mel just would not smile.

It was baby Mel's fourth birthday and all her classmates were invited to celebrate with her, however, she started throwing all the sweets and balloons at the other children and screamed at them.

Her mother, not wanting anyone to realize her difference quickly placed a balloon on the chair and sat on it so as to get the other children excited. To her surprise, Mel actually enjoyed that and started to help burst the balloons.
