A government is an organization that people have chosen to make and enforce their laws. Every organization needs a leader. This is our country, and this is a story about the leaders of our government.

In the United States we have three important levels of government representing our cities, state, and nation.

I am the president of the United States. My job is to lead our country and our government. I make sure that all of our country's laws are obeyed. I sign the laws of our country and I decide how those laws are enforced.

I have to be thirty-five years or older to be the president. I have to have lived in Texas for at least fourteen years. I have to have been born in the United States or have one parent that is a United States citizen. I serve a four year term and I can be re-elected for another term. The twenty second amendment limits me to two terms.

I am in charge of our armed forces. I decide where our troops are stationed and how our weapons are used.

I live in Washington D.C. in the White House. I serve for a four year term.

I am Donald Trump, and I am the president of the United States. Leading our country is a big job for one person. That is why each state has a governor.

The governor is elected every four years. The governor is the leader for the state. Just like a classroom needs a teacher and a team needs a coach, a state needs a leader. The governor's job is to lead the state. The governor makes sure that the laws of the state are being obeyed.

In order to be the governor of Texas I have to be thirty years old and I have to have lived in Texas for at least five years before the election.

There can only be one governor at a time and the people elect me. That's right! You choose the person that you think will be the best person for the job. I am the leader of my state. I make sure that all laws are obeyed.

My job is to make all of the decisions for my state. I sign and veto bills that are passed by legislature. I am the chief executive for my state. I am commander-in-chief of my state's military forces.
