Rose Luckyman



Rose is a 3 month old infant that has been with our center now for about a little over a month now and I just started keeping track of her developmental milestones to make sure she is reaching them.

By now Rose has meet all of her developmental milestones for a 2 month old so I am starting to use the 4 month old developmental milestone checklist.

Language/Communication Milestones for a 2 month old include: coos;
makes gurgling sounds; turns head towards sounds(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, n.d.)
Cognitive Milestones for a 2 month old include: pays attention to faces; begins to follow things with eyes and recognize people at a distance; begins to act bored (cries, fussy) if activity doesn't change (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, n.d.)



Language/Communication Milestones for a 4 month old include: begins to babble; babbles with expression and copies sounds he/she hears; cries in different ways to show hunger, pain, or being tired (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, n.d.)
Cognitive Milestones for a 4 month old include: lets you know if he/she is happy or sad; responds to affection; reaches for toy with one hand; uses hands and eyes together, such as seeing a toy and reaching for it; follows moving things with eyes from side to side; watches faces closely;recognizes familiar people and things at a distance (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, n.d.)
Activities you can do with your 4 month old to help with them reach their developmental milestones
Play games such as peek-a-boo;copy your baby's sounds; put toys or rattles in your baby's hands and help them to hold them; put toys near your baby so that he/she can reach for them or kick them with their feet; have quiet time to read or sing to your baby;act excited and smile when your baby makes sounds(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, n.d.)


Language/Communication Milestones for a 6 month old includes: responds to sounds by making sounds;strings vowels together when babbling ("ah","eh""oh") and likes taking turns with parents while making sounds;responds to own name;makes sounds to show joy and displeasure;begins to say consonant sounds (jabbering with "m,""b") (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, n.d.)
Cognitive Milestones for a 6 month old includes: looks around at things nearby;brings things to mouth; shows curiosity about things and tries to get things that are out of reach;begins to pass things from on hand to the other(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, n.d.)
