One day little jimmy was enjoying his normal nightly routine and having his nightly snack. He was quite short for his grade but wasn't concerned because the doctor figured he would grow.

He fell fast asleep and slept really well for almost 14 hours! When he woke up he had grown nearly 4inches! He raced down stairs to tell his mom and dad.

They were amazed and wondering how he was so tall. However when he turned around to walk away his spine was visibly crooked. They told him about it and decided to go to the doctors office.

The doctor examined him and told him he was exhibit symptoms of scoliosis. He said that his shoulders were uneven, there was a bump in his lower back, and he wasn't standing that tall. These are all the obvious symptoms of scoliosis.

The doctor also was happy they caught it early because left untreated it can cause pain and deformity and to an extreme heart/lung damage.

He went and did some research on his condition. He didn't think he would die because the doctor wasn't concerned but he had some questions about the disease.
