Prologue

A long time ago, before the Neolithic Revolution, man hunted and gathered their food to survive. They were nomadic, meaning they constantly moved following their main source of food. As time went on, technology improved allowing people to settle. Eventually a civilization began by the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. This civilization was called Mesopotamia. The people of Mesopotamia used farming and animal domestication methods to be able to survive. Although there were many civilizations forming in this time period, such as the Chinese, Egyptian, and Indus River Civilizations, Mesopotamia contributed to the origin of permanent settlement throughout the world.

My name is Akki, I am a Jewish slave from Jerusalem. I was captured by the powerful King Nebuchadnezzar ll after he destroyed my city-state.

I am now working on an irrigation project for my owner, Enki.

My name is Enki, I´'m a farmer and slave owner. I own Akki, the Jewish slave. I get paid in the Mesopotamian currency called shekel. My ancestor farmers were paid in barley (we can thank King Hammurabi for changing it).

I've heard a lot about King Nebuchadnezzar ll. In my opinion, he is taking advantage of his power by capturing and enslaving people from Jeruselum. Although he plans to renovate Babylonia, I do not feel he is worthy to be our king.

Hi, I am Nabu. I'm a scribe that writes in cuneiform for King Nebuchadnezzar ll. I do his taxes and keep records of the slaves he captures.

Although I am grateful to have this job, the King uses his power against me and punishes me when I make a mistake!

I know most people are not fond of me ruling this empire, but I plan to change that when they see all the work I do to improve Babylonia. I began working on my renovations of Babylonia 2 years ago. Since then, I have finished 3 cities including Ishtar.

It is now 600 BC and I have begun building the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. I believe this will be my greatest work yet.
