This is Katie. Katie has depression.

It negatively affects the way Katie feels, thinks, and acts.

Lately, she has been feeling very sad.

She has also lost interest in playing soccer this year, which she has played since she was a little girl. She is just too tired to do anything!

Katie talks to her friends at school. She laughs with them, smiles, jokes. But they don't know that deep down, Katie feels sad and lonely.

Lately Katie hasn't had a very big appetite, so she rarely eats anymore. It's hard, because she starts feeling bad and her stomach growls, but she just won't eat!

Katie notices her days getting worse and worse. She keeps getting more and more tired.

She wakes up one morning, and starts thinking bad things like she's not enough.. She doesn't want to live anymore..

But she makes the right choice and tells her mom. She doesn't go to school and her mom takes her straight to a psychologist. She is diagnosed with depression.. The loss of appetite, feeling of sadness, loss of interest, suicidal thoughts.. all signs of depression.

Five months later.. Katie is feeling a lot better. She has been in psychotherapy for over four months now, and on antidepressants.

Katie is trying her hardest not to feel like that anymore.
