AP Government 2nd Hour

If you give a representative a pen, he’s going to write a bill.

If he writes a bill, he’s going to present that bill to the House of Representatives.

If the bill is proposed to the House, the Speaker of the House will send it to the right committee.

When the committee gets the bill, they must make rules for debating it.

If the rules are made, then they can start debating.

When the debate is done, the House may take a vote.

All in favor, raise your hands!
If the majority votes in favor of the bill, it will be sent to the Senate.

If the bill is sent to the Senate, another debate must happen.

If the Senate debates, it could go on for a very long time, and if it goes on for a very long time, the senators can vote for cloture.

Tick, tock,
Tick, tock
If the senators vote for cloture, 60% of them must agree on it.

Stop!
When the Senate debate finally ends, a vote is taken.
