This fictional journal entry is dedicated to all the strong female leaders throughout history who are often overlooked, yet their contributions are impossible to ignore.
Khadijah is an example of an independent and courageous Muslim woman who is still revered by billions.....
Prologue:
Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (Khadijah, daughter of Khuwaylid) was born in Mekka in 555 CE. She was born to a life of privilege, and was an intelligent young woman who was very skilled at business. When her father died, she took over the family business, which thrived under her leadership. Khadijah was compassionate and gave a lot of her wealth away to the poor and needy in her community. She was widowed twice, but she persisted on while raising her small children and running her successful caravan business independently.
By the age of forty, Khadijah was widely known as a powerful, smart, independent woman, and many men wanted to work for her. Khadijah needed to hire an agent for her business, and many men wanted the job. However, she chose a young, twenty-five year old, man named Muhammad who had a well-known reputation of being honest and hard-working. Later, Khadijah proposed marriage to Muhammad and he gladly accepted.
