"Mom, I'm so excited for our trip to Hawaii!" says Lily.

"I am too sweetie, what a relief to be leaving this very cold state." says Lily's mom.

Lily, and her family head to the airport for their vacation to the big island! They are super excited!

"Hawaii is beautiful, but why is there so much trash in the ocean?" Lily asks.

"Well kiddo, it's called ocean pollution. With this trash everywhere, animals can mistaken it for food." says Dad.

"We need to do something! The animals are dying!" Lily gasps as she sees a dead fish lying on the sand.

The animals in the ocean are suffering. They can't move peacefully because of all the trash. There are cameras, papers, bottles, cans, and plastic everywhere. The animals are dying. This causes a change in the food chain. If ocean pollution affects one animal, it will affect other plant and animal species too.

Meanwhile.... in the ocean.

Later that day, Lily decides on recycling all of the plastic they find on shore. Instead of swimming and building sand castles, she rather clean up the beach. Lily cares about the marine animals, she feels bad. She wants to make a difference, one step at a time!
