My name is Julia, and I was diagnosed with osteoporosis 5 years ago. It has been a rough road but I have pushed through. I am here to tell you how it all happened, and to provide you with tips and facts to help prevent and treat osteoporosis.

5 Years Earlier...

I was only 26 and was as healthy as a horse. Or at least I thought I was...

Little did I know, my bones were slowing deteriorating from the inside.

It all started with little pains and aches around my body.

I thought I might have had arthritis. But no. It was much worse.

Most of the pain was in my back. My posture began to stoop.

Then, slowly my bones began to fracture. Especially in my back. That is why my posture was getting bad.

After many doctor visits, I was finally diagnosed with osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis is a disease where the density and quality of your bones reduces. This makes them able to easily fracture and break.

Osteoporosis affects the musculoskeletal system the most.

My hip bone was next. It started to hurt every time I sat or walked long distances. It only got worse and worse.

Finally, I was prescribed some medication to help treat my osteoporosis. Currently, there is no cure, so all I can do is use medication to help get rid of some side affects and pain.

One of the medications I was prescribed to was called Alendronate. Alendronate is a drug that can help treat or prevent osteoporosis by slowing bone loss. it belongs to a class of drugs called bisphosphonates.
