One day, Sally was walking in her backyard and noticed a plant. It was so pretty and Sally had never seen it in her backyard before.

"Hey!" yelled the plant. Sally looked shocked, could a plant really be talking to her? "Yes, you!" the plant yelled once more.

"H-Hello?" Sally whispered. The plant picked up it's leaves, mimicking a "come here" motion. Sally walked up to the plant.

"Are you real?" Sally asked, to which the plant replied, "Yes, I am here to teach you about me!"

"What is there to teach?" asked Sally.

"How I grow! It's called photosynthesis!"

"photo..synthesis?"

"Yes! It's how I look so pretty, how I'm here talking to you right now!"

Sally looked puzzled. Photosynthesis? It sounded like taking photos, could taking photos really make a flower grow? Sally decided it was a good experiment to try out some other time.

"Well..." The flower said, "First you'll need water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide. These things are crucial so plants can make food!"

"Are these called the... reactants?" Sally asked, "Yes! indeed!" the flower replied.

"The next thing that happens is that the carbon dioxide passes through the small pores or holes in the leaves. The pores are called stomata."

"I never knew that the little pores were called stomatas!" Sally said, excited.

"Yes, it is quite cool! Water is then absorbed by the roots and pass through the vessels in the stem." The plant pointed to her stem, "The water is on the way to the leaves."
