One morning, Harper arrives at school. She is so excited to learn since her teacher, Dr. Turney, is wonderful. But when she enters the school, something is not as it should be...

Harper cannot believe her eyes. The school is gone! In its place is a vortex, with a door at the very end of a long corridor. She enters the door...

Once she enters the door, she stands before a long hallway. There is a series of doors along the sides. Suddenly, a boy she recognizes appears at the end of hall. He says to her "I have defeated the 5 challenges, and I am here to show you the way."

Comprehension

The boy introduces himself as Jon. He leads her into the first door. Inside, the word "comprehension" floats across the room. Jon hands her a short story and instructs her to use the story to draw out a map. He says, "if you show that you understand the story by drawing the map, you will get the key to the door to the next room."

Fluency
Harper draws out the map and shows Jon that she comprehends the story. Then, they obtain a key and unlock the next door. Inside the door they see the word "fluency" dangling from the ceiling. Jon unfolds a small piece of paper with a poem on it. He says "read this poem out loud with speed, accuracy, and prosody. If you read it correctly, we will receive the key to the next room."
