What exactly is the Gaia hypothesis Mr.Lovelock?

Great question Katie! Let me explain.

I believe all living things on Earth function as ONE super organism, that changes its environment to create conditions that best meet its needs, with the ability to self regulate critical systems needed to sustain life.

What is an hypothesis?

An hypothesis is a theory or proposal based on scientific or logical reasoning.

There are 4 systems

Biosphere, hydrosphere,

atmosphere & lithosphere

A system is a group of parts that function together.

Atmosphere

The Earth's weather and climate is determined by the constant movement of air and water through out the atmosphere and the ocean.

Hydrosphere

The hydrosphere consists of all the water on the Earth's surface. 70% of the the Earth's surface is covered by water. Ocean currents (flow currents) exist in all of the oceans in the world. Ocean currents are caused by the drag of wind on the surface.
