This book is dedicated to my daughters Alaynah and Amirah. My world is a much better place with you two. I appreciate and love you both very much.

It was raining outside. Layla was at an aunt's house, while 7 year old Leanna stayed home with her mom. Leanna looked outside, saw the rain and thought about what to do on this rainy day. Leanna thought about making a cake to surprise her sister when she gets home.

Singing "Rain, rain, go away
come again another day."
Mom thought making a cake was a great idea and they head to the kitchen. Mom took out all the ingredients for the cake and put them on the table. Mom then told Leanna to look at the back of the cake mix for instructions. Leanna said, "1/2 cup oil, 3 eggs and 1 cup water is all we need." Mom smiled and said, "let's get started."

Mom set the oven and proceeded to guide Leanna. Leanna read that she should combine the ingredients in the bowl. She poured the mix, water and flour. She asked mom if she could crack the eggs. Mom demonstrated how to crack it using the spoon then poured it in the bowl. Leanna tried and made a mess. She stated that she needed help and mom held her hand and guided her. She tried again and she was able to pour it in the bowl.
"I did it!"
"Great job!"

Leanna mixed the ingredients together, then mom ensured it was mixed properly. Mom transferred the mix into a baking pan and carefully put the pan in the oven. Mom then explained that the oven is hot and can cause serious damage. She explained to Leanna that she should not go near the stove because it is unsafe. Leanne nodded and said she understood.
Leanna set a timer for 40 minutes. 40 minutes later, it started beeping and she yelled, "mom it's ready." Mom and Leanna went to the kitchen and mom took the cake out the oven with mittens on. She tested it to make sure it was done and told Leanna it was ready. Leanna asked mom if she could put icing on the cake. Mom replied, " it has to cool for 15 minutes." After 15 minutes Leanna asked mom if she can now put the icing on the cake.

A short while later, Aunt Annie brought Layla home. Leanna was so happy to see her sister. They all greeted each other. Leanna told Layla she baked a cake for her. Layla was excited and asked mom for a slice.
Hi Leanna, I missed you today!
