Chapter 1
Russian Revolutionaries lived in oppression and
abuse because of a "weak- minded" leader.
Revolutionaries attempted assassinations to
provoke change.

Chapter 2
Russia was defeated and humiliated by
Japan. Approximately 200,000 Russian
families followed Russian Orthodox.

Russia's Involvement in WW1

Russia had an untrained military and didn't have the
technology as everybody else. Czar Nicholas II
insisted on going to war anyway. 2,000,000 people
were killed and 4-6,000,000 were wounded.

The Death of RasputinRasputin was assassinated in December, 1916. This was
an attempt at saving the monarchy, but it didn't help.
Czar's wife, Alexandra, started to make the important
decisions after Czar went to war.

The 1917 March RevolutionsAbout 90,000 women marched through the streets trying to
make people stop the war. These women were starving,
tired, and angry because their husbands were at the front.
The next day, over 150,000 men and women were involved
in the protest.

The 1917 October RevolutionsLenin thought that the people were ready for another revolution.
On October 10, there was a secret meeting between the leaders of
Bolshevik. After the Bolsheviks became the new leaders of Russia,
all private land and businesses were abolished.

Civil War in RussiaAfter Russia's soldiers got out of WW1, they went home tired
hungry. But because of Lenin not allowing private land, there
was not enough food for them. In June 1918, Russia went to
war. It was the Whites against the Reds. The Reds were afraid
the Whites were going to free Czar Nicholas, so the Reds shot
him and his family.

Chapter 3Karl Marx wrote a book titled "Communist Manifesto"
which started a class with no privately-owned property.
After the loss to Japan in the Russo-Japanese wars, Russia
was willing to change because of the sorry state Russia was
in.
