My favourite American piece of literature is "The Martian Chronicles" writen by Ray Bradbury. This collection of short stories was the first science fiction book that I read.

Ray Bradbury was an american author and screenwriter. He worked in a variety of genres, including fantasy, science fiction, horror, and mystery fiction. He was mainly known for writing the iconic dystopian novel "Fehrenheit 451" and "The Martian Chronicles", both of wich were works of science fiction. Many of his works were adapted to movie form, and he was praised as "the writer most responsible for bringing modern science fiction into the literary mainstream".
