Have you ever seen a beautiful rainbow and wondered how it all really works? Well in class, I asked my science teacher and she told me light travels different ways!

I wonder where the light from the sun likes to travel to? Maybe to the pool or the park, or my favorite place the zoo. Hmmm... Maybe my teacher knows.

Turns out, light actually doesn't go to any of my favorite places. My teacher said light is a form of energy and it travels through or off surfaces in different ways.
She taught me about reflection, refraction, and absorption.

So reflection happens when light waves bounce off a surface. The coolest example was pointing a laser in the mirror and seeing it on my shirt. My teacher said the light bounced off the mirror and made it possible to see on my shirt.

Refraction is light waves bending as they pass from one medium to another. My teacher had a glass of water and put a straw in it. The weirdest thing happened, the straw actually looked like it was bent &that is what refraction is.
