Dedicated to all the mothers who unlocked the doors and made a home for the intruder.

I woke to a sound, and shot up in bed
Was it a robber, or just in my head
I grabbed up my bat and crept down the stairs
ready for criminals, bullies, or bears
Instead of danger, I saw a small boy
He was smaller than any, like the size of a toy
He had a small white note, written in gray
it said, "I am the prize, from the game you did play"

This was worse than a robber, bully or bear
This little toy man was a much bigger scare
This game had been played, for a bit of good fun
Played with a friend, just for laughs, and was done
But this little toy was no prize or hobby
It would only take, and control, change my life and my body
It was an intruder and unwanted guest
I needed some help getting rid of this pest

It was so very small, and no one would know
This is my house, and you've got to go
I called my friend, the one who had played
and explained the horror the game had made
I cried on the phone, ''Theres an intruder in my house''
I say, ''Come help me get rid of it, while its small as a mouse''
This little pest, it wouldn't stay small
It would grow and become a destroyer of all

No more parties, no more dreams
No more sleep, just hungry screams
Every last penny would be spent on this pet,
how could my friend not see it as a threat?
I never thought He would disagree,
''But it is not a pest, it is you, it is me''
I look at the toy and see he was right
It would have his face, like a weird overbite.

How could he be so dumb as to think this would work,
I don't want this intruder, don't be a jerk
''It's not in your house, you don't have a choice
You can't have a say, can't have a voice.''
''Everyone we know was once that small.
let it leave the house, it's not just your call''
''That will take months, my house will be wrecked
My mother will find out, and Dad will object'

I thought you could help, but all you give me is lies
I wanted your help, but you think it a prize.''
We just played a game, and I guess it was fun
But I don't want this thing in my house, it is done''
I hung up the phone, and wiped away tears
I bent down and grabbed the source of my fears.
I scooped up the blob of tissue and meat,
and I tried not to notice its hands or its feet.
