Kente cloth
Kente cloth is a type of silk and cotton fabric made of interwoven cloth strips made and native to the Akan ethnic group of Ghana and is usually worn on the shoulders and waist, similar to a toga.

How Kente cloth is made
Kente cloth is made by thin strips about 4cm thick woven together on narrow looms and is usually made by males. Kente cloth is created by the strips being interlaced to form a fabric which is worn by the shoulders and waist similar to a toga.

Kente cloth colors and meanings
Black- maturity, spiritually, Africa
Blue- harmony, peace
Green- harvesting, planting, vegitation
Red- blood, sacrifice, politics
Gold- royalty, wealth, status
Traditional worn by Kings and Chiefs, but today found throughout Ghana and the world.
For the most part , African Hip-Hop culture was defined and embraced by young urban , Working class African-Americans . Hip-Hop music has been popular in Africa since the early 1980s due too widespread African American influence.
