1.Popular sovereignty-The idea that the government's authority comes from the people.
2.limited government-The government is empowered by laws from a starting point that government has restricted power
3.Separation of power- Goverment is divide into three groups to prevent any one branch from gaining to much power.
4.Checks and balances- The system that allows each branch of government to limit the power of the other two branches.
5.Judicial review-The power of the supreme court to decide weather laws and acts made by the others branches are unconstitutional.
6.Feudalism-The system that shares powers between the national and state government.
7.Republicanism-people have the power in government and the cannot reign with extreme power
Chapter 1(seven principles of government)
1.Form a more perfect union-They want to states to cooperate with each other and create a strong relationship between states and the government.
2.Establish Justice-To not be ruled by a king or a army but by rules or laws apply to all people equally.
3.Insure domestic tranquility-The government is responsible to keep peace and order within the country.
4.Provide for the common defense-The national government would be responsible for protecting the nation against foreign enemies.
5.promote the general warfare -That the government could support an economy and society in which people could prosper.
6.Secure the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity-They want the government to protect the freedom gain in the American Revolution and preserve there happiness.
Chapter 2(The Preamble)
Chapter 3 (Legislative Branch)
The job of Legislative Branch is to make laws. There are two house in the Legislative Branch, Congress and the Senate. Powers of the Legislative Branch-1.Create bills (Article 1, Clause 1, Section 7). 2.To make a bill a law (A1,C 2,S7).3.lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States(A1,C1,S8).4.Borrow money(A1,C2,S8).5.Can delare war (A1,C11,S8).6.Can create Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies(A1,C4,S8).7. Can establish Post Offices and post Roads(A1,C5,S8). 8. Can Progress of Science and useful Arts(A1,C6,S8).9.Can raise and support Armies(A1,C12,S8). 10.Can provide and maintain a Navy(A1,C13,S8).Qualifications how to get the job/term for a Senator- You must be at least 30 yeas old, and a citizen for nine years. You are voted in by the people and term of 6 years. Qualifications/how to get the job/term for a Representative-You must be at least 25 years old, and a citizen for 7 years. You are voted in by the people and term of 2 years
Chapter 4 (Executive Branch)
The job of the Executive Branch is to pass or veto laws. The president, and the vice president make up the Executive Branch. A person get the job by being voted by the Electutal College. The powers of the Executive Branch-1. Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States (A2,C1,S2) 2.Can make Treaties(A2,C2,S2).3.Can make laws(A2,C2,S2).4.Can veto laws(A2,C2,S2). The Qialifications to become the president is that you must be natural born a American citizen and at least 35 years old. A person is elected to be the president by the Electual College. The term is 4 years long and person can only serve twice.
Chapter 5 (Judical Branch)
The Judicial Branch is made up of the Surpreme Court and all lower courts. The job of the judicial branch is to decide if laws and acts should go into force or not. There are no qualifications to become part of the judicial branch. Powers of the judicial branch-1. The Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority(A3,C1,S2)2.the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make.(A3,C2,S2)3.The Trial of all Crimes, except in Cases of Impeachment, shall be by Jury.(A3,C3,S2)4.The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason(A3,C1,S3).
Checks and Balance the system that allows each branch of government to limit the powers of the other two branches.
Judicial branch- 1.Can decide if laws should go into affect(Legislative).2.can decide if the presidents actions are unconstitutional (Executive).3.Crimes are settled by the the Judicial branch in court, and some times in the Supereme Court(Judicial).
Executive branch-1.Commander in chief of the nation's military force.(Executive).2.Can veto laws(Legislative).3.The president nominates or recommend ambassador and judges(Judicial).
Legislative Branch-1.If the president veto a law then they can vote for the law to go in place if 2/3 agrees(Executive).2.Makes laws and sets taxes(Legislative).3.Can impeach judges(Judicial).
