There once was a man
named Abraham Lincoln. He
grew up in Illinois. His
family wasn't very wealthy
in fact they were poor, but
they got by with what they
had.

Lincoln was interested in being
president so he ran for the
election and he was nominated
and he won. They had a huge
celebration for him. That night
he went to bed thinking about
things in the world he could
change.

Lincoln decided he could change the
way African Americans were treated.
So Lincoln discussed with the congress
about the problem and half of the
congress disagreed and moved to the
South and the North and the South
decided to fight to decide who wins.
1862, the Civil War had began.

Thousands of soldiers died and it
was only the first day of the war.
Families were terrified that they
wouldn't see their son, husband, or
maybe even father. The North
were out numbered so they
retrieved all of their soldiers and
went back to where they came
from.

Lincoln got very aggravated
because carpetbaggers were
steadily asking him if he
wanted this and that and that
and this. So he appointed his
security guards to dispose of
them.

Lincoln was up all night worrying
about his soldiers, and how they
were getting hurt more than he had
thought. He was worried about
their families and the way he would
feel if that was one of his family
members.

Months later the war was still
going on and Lincoln was getting
tired of it. He got tired of waiting
and waiting. The slaves
depended on him and he new that
so he started to write the
Emancipation Proclamation.

Lincoln was writing for a
month and ten days jus so he
could get the Emancipation
Proclamation to sound as
intelligent as he could get it.

Lincoln finally finished the
emancipation proclamation and he
presented it to the congress.
Everyone thought the Emancipation
Proclamation would free the slaves,
but as no suprise it didnt.
