I had been waiting all month for the perfect day. Every day in April, the sky turned dark gray and filled with menacing clouds. Then, rain poured down nonstop. Today was going to be different.

Every year on May first, my family has a picnic. My two best friends, Oliver and Marie, also came along with their families. The sun shines bright in the sky, and we eat all the best foods.

The best part is the kids' obstacle course. Oliver, Marie, our siblings, and I compete to win the Picnic Cup!

I woke up on May first ready to defend my title of the Picnic Cup Champion! The sun was going to be as bright as a bonfire at night, and the weather was supposed to be as hot as a beach.

When I woke up though, all I saw were big, gray clouds.

Immediately, tears flowed from my eyes, falling harder than the rain that was going to come. My mom wanted to cheer me up, so she said I could invite Oliver and Marie over.

Oliver looked just as disappointed as me, but Marie had a huge smile on her face.

"Come on guys. We can still have fun!" she said.

Marie led the way to my basement, which was full of blankets, pillows, an old couch, and toys scattered across the floor.

"What do you see?" asked Marie.

"A mess that my mom told me to clean up a few days ago" I replied.

"No" said Marie. "It's the obstacle course for the Picnic Cup!"

Laser beams crossed the walls, and we had to save a precious jewel. Whoever had the fastest time won!

Before long, the basement was transformed, and I was ready to win the Picnic Cup once again. First, we had to race down the stairs, except there was one problem.
