This book is dedicated to my Kupu ohana.

Twiggy is a stilt bird.

He lives in a marsh on Hawai'i.

The marsh was dirty, littered with garbage. Enemies, such as rats and cats, constantly picked on the other birds in the marsh.

The native plants that the birds love to eat were outnumbered by the invasive, alien plants. The water was poor quality and was very unhealthy to drink.

Sadly, a lot of Twiggy's friends left the marsh to find a better place to live.

"We're moving!" Said Billy the duck, as he flew off to Florida.

Out of all the birds, Twiggy was the only one to stay. He loves his home! He would do anything to protect it!

Twiggy would fight against the predators every day. He would throw sticks and chunks of mud at them.

Obviously, this didn't help. The cats would angrily hiss at him, and the rats would laugh and call him names before stealing Twiggy's food.

Twiggy tried removing the invasive plants from the marsh. He would furiously peck on them, hoping to agitate them so much that they would die.

However, the plants grew back even larger than before.

Twiggy also tried to remove the trash.

With all his strength, he would pick up all the bottles, cans, and even a bicycle from the marsh. Unfortunately, the grumpy guy, who lived nearby, would dump even more trash into the marsh.

Twiggy was angry! He wanted his home to be clean!
