Dedicated to my Chemistry teacher...

What do I have in common with this dog, cake, and drum set? For one, we are made up of atoms!

Well, what are atoms? Atoms make up EVERYTHING. Everything you touch or see is made up of atoms. Your books, phone, and trees are all made up of atoms for example.

Meet my very good friend, Atom! Say hi, Atom!

Hello! It's true, I do make up everything. Now, let's learn about what I'M made of.

The gray part of me is called the nucleus. It holds the Protons and Neutrons in place and Electrons surround it.

The blue circles swirling around the outside of me are electrons. They are negative and I need the same amount of protons and neutrons inside to balance me out or I become a little unstable.

The red circles are protons. Protons are positive and upbeat. The yellow circles are the neutrons and they stay neutral, moving with the flow.

Even though the electrons stay outside of my nucleus, they give me volume. My protons and neutrons give me density and mass.
Although I may be too small too see to the human eye, I am there along with countless other atoms. If it wasn't for me, there would be nothing.
