Presentation for utilization of RES in urban areas

In Kanohi RES could be based on water, sunlight, wind and waves. Because we are an island town our territory is rich with strong wind, big waves and big amount of water.
We have installed about fifteen wave energy converters all around our coasts. They are used for exploiding wave power, that is used for electricity generation, water desalination and pumping water.

We have built three hydropower plants on the fast-flowing rivers that descend from the mountains, which are the main source of electricity in the city, while the energy from wind turbines is stored as a backup. In addition to storing electricity, windmills are used to pump water.



Thanks to these RESs, in one year about 73% of the conventional energy is saved.
