A noun is a person, place, or thing. We can classify nouns as either count or non-count nouns. Let's go on a picnic and learn more about count and non-count nouns!

A count noun is a noun that can be counted. Cookie is a count noun because it is something that can be counted. When we are talking about more than one cookie we can make it plural by adding an s. There are three cookies for our picnic!

Non-count nouns cannot be counted individually like count nouns. These nouns do not have a plural form. Milk is a non-count noun. We can say that we have some milk, but we cannot say that we have some milks.

Can you spot some count nouns and some non-count nouns at our picnic?

You did it! Salt, pepper, bread, and juice are non-count nouns. Apple and pretzel are count nouns.
