However, George stayed strong, and tried his best to not let those mean people get to him. He focused on mining gold in hopes of becoming rich and supporting his family.

However, as time went on, George realized that the chance he will make a fortune with gold was really small. So, instead of giving up, he went off to the Sierra Nevadas to help build the Continental Railroad.
