She was a famous American Aviation Pioneer and Author. Amelia was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She was also a crucial part of starting the Ninety-Nine, an organization for female pilots. This book will tell you about her life.

Hi! My name is Amelia Mary Earhart. I was born in Atchison, Kansas on July 24, 1897.

My Fathers name is Edwin and my mothers name is Amy. I also have a little sister named Muriel who I liked to call "Pidge". She liked to call me "Meeley".
Here are some pictures of my family.

These pictures are really cool because they are really old. The bottom picture is of me and my sister it was taken in 1904. That means it is 116 years old.

My sister and I lived with my grandparents in Atchison. We spent lots of time with them.

I was home-schooled by my mother until I was 12. Since I was home-schooled I was able to spend lots of time going on adventures outside with my sister. My sister is my best friend.

I saw my first airplane when I was 10 years old. I wasn't very impressed by it then, but later I will be memorized by airplanes.

Sadly my Grandmother died and my parents got separated. So my mother, my sister and I moved to Chicago.

After we moved I told my mother that I wanted to go to school that had the best science program. So in 1915 I enrolled into Hyde Park High School.

In 1916 I graduated from high school. Yay! After I graduated I trained with the Red Cross to become a nurse during World War 1.

I got really sick during the Spanish flu, while working as a nurse in Canada. I spent almost 2 months in the hospital, some of my symptoms lasted all of my life.

In 1920, I went to an air show and took a ride in an airplane with a famous pilot Frank Hawks. This ride changed my life forever. After that flight I knew that i needed to learn how to fly.
I started working lots of different jobs so that I could make enough money to learn how to fly an air plane. I was a truck driver, a stenographer and even a photographer. Man it was a lot of work.

When I finally earned enough money I was able to take flying lessons with a pioneer female pilot by the name of Anita "Netta" Snook.

I was obsessed with learning to fly. All I did was read books about air planes. I even started dressing like aviators and cut my hair to look like the female pilots. I wanted to be a pilot so bad.

FINALLY, it happened I bought my first airplane in 1921. I painted her yellow and called her "The Canary".

Oh happy day! I received my pilots license on May 15, 1923. I was the 16th female pilot to get her license.
