There are 6 kingdoms of living things.
1. Archaebacteria
2. Eubacteria
3. Protista
4. Fungi
5. Plantae
6. Animalia
Archaebacteria
Cell type: Prokaryote
Number of cells: Unicellular (one cell)
How do they get their energy?
From the sun and by breaking down any material in dying organisms or those decaying
Reproduction: Asexually. It divides into two by Binary Fission
Characteristics:
~They reproduce in a short time span
~Can be found in extreme environments
Eubacteria
Cell type: Prokaryote
Number of cells: Unicellular (one cell)
How do they get their energy?
From the sunlight and by breaking down or absorbing any material in dying organisms or those decaying
Reproduction: Asexually. It divides into two by Binary Fission
Characteristics:
~ Have a different chemical makeup than archaebacteria
~They reproduce in a short time span
~Can either be very helpful or be the complete opposite and be harmful
~ Some examples: streptococcus, trepenoma pallidum
Protista
Cell type: Eukaryote
Number of cells: Mostly unicellular, but can also be multicellular
How do they get their energy?
By making their own food, by eating other organisms and by breaking down and absorbing any material in dying organisms or those decaying
Reproduction: Mostly asexually but it can also occur sexually.
Characteristics:
~These are classified by how they get their energy (plant-like, fungi-like, or animal-like)
