"Do you really think it's a good idea to look around inside this creepy old house?" Emilio wondered. "This house has been vacant for a couple of years. Aren't you a little bit curious to see what's inside?" Salvador asked. "Not really. The only thing in there is dirt, dust, and bugs" Emilio replied. "What if we get in trouble for trespassing? I don't want to get arrested." "You won't get arrested Cézar. Now let's do some exploring!" Salvador said as his friends reluctantly followed.

"What a dump!" Cézar declared. "There's nothing here but junk. Let's get outta here. This place gives me the creeps" Emilio added. "C'mon guys, where's your sense of adventure? Who knows what we'll find here. We might find some valuable antiques." "Everything is covered in layers of dust and it smells funny in here. Sorry man, but I'm going home"Cézar said. "Me too" Emilio agreed. "Five more minutes and then we'll go, okay?" Salvador pleaded with his buddies.

"Whoa! Check it out boys. It's a black widow spider and it's huge!" "Those are venomous Salvador. Leave it alone and let's go home already" Cézar warned. "What if a bite from this spider could give me superpowers? That would rule!" "That's enough Salvador. You're talking foolish" Emilio cautioned his reckless friend. "I'm going to see what happens." "No! Don't" Salvador's friends shouted. "OUCH! She bit me!" "Emilio, call 911!" Cézar shouted. Salvador started to feel dizzy, nauseous, as he began to sweat profusely. The dangerous venom was rapidly coursing through his veins as Salvador clutched at his chest.

After a crazy couple of minutes, Salvador collapsed on the floor. His friends, petrified by what they had just witnessed, slowly started to walk towards Salvador. He had wrapped himself in what appeared to be a cocoon. "What do we do now?" Cézar wondered. "I think we should call 911. This is so freaky and I'm too afraid to go near him" Emilio replied. "My iPhone doesn't seem to be working in here" Cézar exclaimed. "Mine won't work either. Let's go outside and see if we get better reception." "Hey! Where did Salvador go?" Emilio yelled out.

"I'm up here meus amigos!" Salvador shouted from the roof of the house. "How'd you get up there!" Emilio queried. "I jumped." "All the way up there?" "Yeah! Pretty cool huh?" "I don't believe it! You actually got super powers from that spider bite!" Cézar hollered from down below. "Try spinning a web!" Emilio dared his friend. "I'll see what I can do!" Salvador responded as he struggled to make webs appear from his wrists. A thin line of webbing spurted out of Salvador's wrist as he tried to swing down to his friends. "Look out below!" he cried out as he fell from the top of the house.

Salvador managed to land on his feet after what could've been a nasty fall from the top of the rickety old house. "Holy Guacamole! You're like a human spider!"Cézar cried out loudly. "It looks like I have special spider powers. I'm like the Portugese Peter Parker." "So are you gonna keep our city safe?" Emilio joked. "Maybe. I think I need to spend some time alone finding out more about what I can do." "Uh, you might want to hold off on that amigo" Cézar warned. "Well, for starters your skin is beet red. You also have a spider web hanging from your mouth."

Salvador spent the rest of the day climbing buildings and leaping from rooftop to rooftop. He still wasn't sure how to create his own webs however. He also noticed that he was beginning to grow a sharp pair of fangs in his mouth. As Salvador was enjoying the view of his city from up high, he heard a women calling for help from the streets below. A rough looking dude was trying to rob her. Even though he really didn't have control over his new spider powers, Salvador jumped into action. "Leave her alone!" he screamed.

"Bud out you red freak!" the punk responded as he turned his attention towards Salvador. As he grew closer, Salvador began to feel a little queasy as though he was going to throw up. And so he did, except it was a huge spider web that shot out of his mouth. The giant sticky web ensnared the crook up against the wall of a building. "You're a hero!" the woman cheered. "I can't wait to tell my kids I was rescued by, uh, what's your name hon?" "Um, The Crimson Crawler. Yeah, that sounds about right" Salvador blurted out. "Well, thank you Crimson Crawler. Here's a quarter. Go buy whatever you want." "Uh, thanks lady."

Salvador's heart was racing after his first encounter wiht the 'forces of evil.' And what a cool name, The Crimson Crawler. He spent the remainder of his day climbing, jumping, and lifting heavy objects. It was starting to get dark out and Salvador wanted to tell his friends all about his adventures. "And then a giant spider web came shooting out of my mouth and ended up all over the mugger!" "Wow! That is so cool!" Emilio gushed. "There's just one thing, I can't exactly go home looking like this. But if I don't return, my parents are going to be worried sick." "No problem dude. We took care of it" Cézar grinned.

"We replaced you with Portugese soap opera star, Miguel Branco. I'm sure your parents won't notice the difference" Emilio smiled. "Where have you been all day Salvador? Your mother and I were starting to get worried." "I was out exploring with my friends Cézar and Emilio." "Okay, but if you're going to be late try calling next time." "Yes Mama." "Wait a second. Something seems different about you." "Oh, um, I bought a new sweater today Papa." "Yes, that's it. Lookin' good son!"
Wow! What an actor!

Salvador spent most of his time learning about his super abilities. He was starting to find out what he could and couldn't do with all of that spider venom running through his body. Despite having these unique powers, there wasn't really a need for a crimefighter in his city. The Crimson Crawler did get a few chances to showcase his strength and agility but most of the time he would stand on rooftops waiting for something to happen. He still had no control over his webbing but whenever he got nervous webs would spew out of his mouth. Not as cool as having web shooters but it got the job done.

It was like having a bad case of acid reflux. He hadn't eaten for days and was starting to get hungry. Salvador was also a little concerned about these urges he was getting. As his fangs grew so did his hunger. It had to be the Black Widow venom running through his veins. Out of desperation, Salvador was beginning to feed on a variety of insects from grasshoppers to beetles. And yet he still wasn't satisfied. What if he couldn't control these urges? What if he was slowly becoming a cold, cruel predator like the Black Widow that bit him? His fangs started to cause him a lot of pain and affect his mood. He felt like a teething baby only these were no baby teeth in his mouth.
