Dedicated to ECE 207: Professional Responsibilities in the Early Childhood Environment

We are here to help everyone learn and understand the NAEYC Code of Ethics. It is important to know the Code of Ethics because it helps us grow and develop.
The Code of Ethics consists of five sections;
1. Core Values
2. Ethical Responsibilities to Children
3. Ethical Responsibilities to Families
4. Ethical Responsibilities to Colleagues
5. Ethical Responsibilities to Community and Society

Core Values
"Appreciate childhood as a unique and valuable stage of the human life cycle"
"Base our work on knowledge of how children develop and learn"
(NAEYC, 2005, pg. 1)

We learn best when our educator creates activities based on our level of knowledge.
"Appreciate and support the bond between the child and family "
"Recognize that children are best understood and supported in the context of family, culture, community and society"
"Recognize that children and adults achieve their full potential in the context of relationships that are based on trust and respect"
(NAEYC, 2005, pg. 1)
Core Values
Core Values
"Respect the dignity, worth, and uniqueness of each individual"
"Respect diversity in children, families, and colleagues"
(NAEYC, 2005, pg. 1)

We may speak different languages, eat different foods or look different, but we want to be included like everyone else.
Ethical Responsibilities to Children
Provide a safe classroom
Help children learn to play and work cooperatively
Support childrens development and learning

We depend on our educators to teach us how to work and play correctly.
Ethical Responsibilities to Children
Promote self-worth, well-being, and resilience
Respect individual differences

We sometimes feel insecure about our differences, so we depend on our educators to lift us up and teach us to be strong and proud of who we are.
