Bryan was 5 years old. He had blonde hair and blue eyes. He looked like an average, healthy, 5-year-old boy.

Even though Bryan looked like an average boy there was something about him that was special, he had autism.

Autism is a spectrum disorder, which means not everyone with autism has the same characteristics or challenges.

Some people with autism have behavioral issues, some have trouble making eye contact, others find it difficult to be social. Everyone with autism has different experiences.

When Bryan would get excited he would flap his hands up and down.

When things did not go the way Bryan expected them to he would get upset.

Sometimes Bryan would get angry and he would yell.

Sometimes he would feel overwhelmed or sad and he would cry.

Bryan had a hard time making friends because the other kids did not understand why he did not always behave in a way they were used to.

One day Bryan met Daniel and Daniel became Bryan's best friend.
