Have you ever wondered where rocks come from? and how they are formed?
Do they fall from the sky? Does someone make rocks?

Rocks don't fall from the sky, sorry! There are actually three different types of rocks, each one is formed differently.

We call this the rock cycle!
Sedimentary Rocks are formed from little parts of sand, shells, pebbles, and other tiny fragments of material.
The sediment forms into layers that turn into harder rock.
Sedimentary rock is kind of soft and might break apart easily.
You can usually see sand, stones, or
pebbles in the rock!
This rock is one of the only types that contains fossils.
Metamorphic Rocks are formed
underneath the surface of the earth
from the change that occurs due to intense heat and pressure.
These rocks have ribbon-like layers
and sometimes shiny crystals, formed
by minerals growing slowly over time,
on their surface.
