On May 26, 1951 in Encinco, California, Dale B. Ride
and Carol Joyce Ride just got a beautiful girl named
Sally Kristin Ride. Encinco is very near Los Angelos, so
Sally is known being born in Los Angelos. A few years
later, Sally's sister Karen was born. She too, was a
beautiful sight. The sisters got along as most sisters do.
Fussy, but sometimes very well. Sally was very
interested in outdoors at that time, and developed a
great tennis skill starting at age ten. She also loved
science and got good grades at school. She was very
good at tennis and even ranked eighteenth on the junior
national tennis routine.

Eventually, she just got better and better. She
got so good that she got a tennis scholarship to
Westlake School for Girls, and graduated there.
Unfortunately, she didn't choose tennis as her
career. Instead, she went to Swarthmore College,
but dropped out because she later decided that she
wanted to finish her dream: to be a professional
tennis player. After a few months of hard practice,
she knew she couldn't do it, so she went to
Stanford University to study English and Literature.

The English and Literature class suited her well, and
in 1973, she earned two bachelors, and is almost
finished with her choice of being a teacher. Finally, in
1975, she got her master degree and was on her way
to being a teacher. Just then, the National Aeronautics
and Space Administration,NASA, was trying to pick
out astronauts, and Sally was picked out of 8,000
people. While she was still training, there was this
mysterious man called Steve Hawley, they fell in love,
so in 1982, they married. Sadly, and happily, in 1987,
they got divorced.

on the moon

Her training went very well. So, on 1983, Sally
went onto the moon on the Challenger, and was the
first American woman on the moon. There was quite
a few other people that went there before her, but
she was the first American woman on the moon. Also,
she's the youngest person sent to orbit. She went on
space three times, and all three times were on the
Challenger. Unfortunately, on the second time, the
1st Challenger broke, so they built a new one. Sally
was on the investigation team for when it broke
down.
