After arriving at his new house, Noah decides to go to the beach. Where he meets a new friend named Zahriya.

I am going to teach you about Fa'a Samoa, or the Samoan way. But first, its time for church. Do you want to go with me?

Sure.

Most people here worship Christianity. 

Make sure you are respectful to my grandma, in Samoa it is very important to respect our elders. 

Do you have anything to eat, Grandma?

Yes! I made some Fa'ausi, this morning.

After church, the 2 new friends are hungry.

What is Fa'ausi? 

It is coconut bread, covered in caramel sauce.

He is Noah, my friend from the US.

Who is your friend? 

Noah wonders about the new food.

 The the first two parts of Fa'a Samoa are the church and the aiga. The church is something you have already experienced. Aiga means extended family. Family is very important, we do everything together. The last part is the Maita, which are the chiefs of our village.

As you can see a lot of people have tattoos. Do not be afraid; people in Samoa are very friendly. Tattoos are just a part of our culture

In Samoa there are 2 main ethnicities,   Samoans and Euronesians. Samoans have lived here for generations. Samoan people are considered Polynesians. Euronesians, are a mix of European and Polynesian ethnicity.

What's that?

Every September 1st- 7th a festival is held. It has all types of Samoan culture like tattooing, carving, music, dance, food, and the Miss Samoan pageant.
