What is slimy and goes ribbit? You guessed it! It's a frog!! Today we are going to talk about the magnificent life cycle of a frog. Are you Ready? Well let's hop to it then!

Lets begin by talking about what the life cycle of a frog is. Life cycles are present everywhere and many animals and insects such as butterflies have one. A life cycle is a series of changes in the life of an organism that includes reproduction.
The life cycle of a frog goes from an egg all the way to an adult frog and is known as metamorphosis. It can take anywhere from 6 to 21 days for the mass of eggs known as spawn to hatch.

Frogs start off as eggs just like a baby bird, however instead of them being hard they are soft and gooey. Inside the egg is an embryo which is just a fancy word for a fertilized egg. A frog can lay hundreds of eggs at one time. It can take anywhere from 6 to 21 days for the mass of eggs known as spawn to hatch.
The next step in the cycle is a tadpole which is a baby frog that has hatched out of its egg. Tadpoles do not look like frogs though. They have no legs like little fish! They do have long tail and gills that allow them to breathe and swim underwater.

Our next step in the cycle would be a tadpole that has grown its two back legs. They also have lungs that start to develop and its squiggly, wiggly tail shrinks. Think of it as the "toddler" stage!

Up next in the cycle is a tadpole with four legs! It is now considered a big kid like you! These two stages happen at about 6 to 9 weeks.
