Wendy was an ordinary girl. She went to school, did her homework, and played outside with her neighbor Alexander.

While playing one night after dinner, Wendy and Alexander came across an abandoned house in their neighborhood.

I don't think that's a good idea.

I think it's a great idea! Let's go inside, just for a minute.

Wendy and Alexander nervously entered the house. It looked like no one had lived here in years!

Is that someone over in the corner?

Oh no, who are you?

My name is Amethyst. I have lived here for 300 years. Would you children like to see my special room? It will take you anywhere you want to go.

Well sure. Let's go!

When you are ready to go somewhere, say "Oh machine, so many places you know, but this is where I would like to go," and then tell it where you would like to go. Go ahead, try it!

So, the magical machine dropped them off in Egypt, right in front of the Pyramids!

Welcome to Egypt, travelers! My name is Anubis. I sure hope you will enjoy your visit, there are so many things to see! You must go check out the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx, they are a must-see!  The Pyramids are used as burial places and monuments for our Pharaohs, and the Sphinxes are there to guard them.

Wow, that sounds amazing!  This is going to be such a fun trip!

Here are our hieroglyphics. They are symbols that we use write. You can find them written on the walls or sometimes they are written on sheets of papyrus, which is like the paper you use to write on.

Look! A ship is sailing by now. I wonder where they are going to barter.

Here we are at the Nile River. Ships can sail here to go barter. Our land is very fertile, so it can grow a lot of crops that we can use to trade.

Their time in Egypt had come to an end. Where would Wendy and Alexander go next?

Why hello there! I am Sophia. Here we are in front of the Parthenon, a temple built in honor of one of our goddesses, Athena. We have many temples dedicated to our gods and goddesses.

Here we are at an Arena. I think the Olympic Games are about to begin. There will be running races, javelin throws, wrestling, chariot racing, and more!
